Woke up this morning to the devasting news that Haiti had been hit by an earthquake of magnitude 7.3. It is being described as Haiti's worst earthquake in 2 centuries. Hundreds are feared dead and out of a population of 10 million, 3 million will be affected. The focus is now on search and rescue with the US government providing assistance. My heart goes out to all Haitians at this difficult time.

I wonder - why is Haiti suffering so much? Do you believe in karma for whole groups and countries?
Nana..Karma has notting to do with this earthquake,it just nature..My house sits on one of the dangerous earthquake fault lines and the day it hits most of California will be messed up.Been through one which i think was a 6.5 even that was a mess.peace
@NY the karma question is interesting.. US televangelist Pat Robertson has just come out with extremely unhelpful comments eluding to the fact that Haitians are cursed as a result of voodoo ceremonies performed before the 1791 rebellion against the French. Something about a pact with the devil. To me this is completely offensive nonsense and has karmic undertones. To answer your question, I dont believe in karma. I'm just waiting for Pat Robertson or some such evangelist to say that black people are still suffering from the 'Curse of Ham'.
Touche, both. But, as Abena Serwaa pointed out, it was a karma question, and not a karma statement. It was not a taking of positions. Having said that, isn't karma also possibly just nature? ;-)
@Anonymous I agree with you that its nature but it does get you thinkin; when will nature give Haitian people a break?
@NY Still contemplating Karma = Nature...question.
BTW; love the two different pics..and on the same page too!
