Is the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) demonstrating a committment to romance all over Accra??

I was planning a walk around my very dimly-lit neighborhood tonight. I called home and apparently the lights are off AGAIN!  Of course the ironic part is that the electricity company was sure to bring the electricity bill 'round THIS afternoon.

Today's power-outage is particularly perplexing. I could have sworn my eyes glazed across a newspaper article  late last week that explained these recent frequent power-outages. The tone of the article was that the current spate (to borrow from the Phrasebook of Overused Phrases in Ghana) of power-outages were to be a thing of the past. So now I'm completely at a loss. But eureka...a light-bulb just went off  (sadly only in my head); the power-outages MUST be a sign of the ECG's commitment to promoting romance all over Accra! Why else are we being forced to have dinner by candlelight night after night? Mmm, let's just hope no fires are started because then we are pretty much screwed!

I like that you have found humor here too! Hahaha. Romantic ECG...forcefeeding us romance! But on a more serious note considering that we ow officially have no fire service, I think they should be more careful with playing aroung with our power...

Lmao!Romance is always in the air during a power outage, been there done, done that(akwadaa boni). I don't get the part where the individual gets charged by ECG after a countless number of outages.

May be ECG is anti family planning :)

O, what I wouldn't give to be in a country where even the electricity corp. promotes area-wide romance.

I guess so. Just this morning it went off for about 20 secs...

Abena, I'm falling over my chair reading what you wrote:

Do you not surely mean that "no fires [OF PASSION] are started because then we [would have been] pretty much screwed!"

:-*))) when will you get my mind out of the gutter, Abena?;-))

@Kwegyirba: That was the phrase I on the tip of my tongue! "By force Romance". Aside from the fact that we have no fire service, the Water company have also been doing their part and we have been without water for a week. Oh joy.

@Nita: LMAO! During the load-shedding 'exercise'/torture some years ago, I always thought it would be nice to have some sort of rebate on the amount we spent
on electricity bills to make up for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, that never happened then.

@Nana Kofi Acquah: LOL, maybe the ECG has a secret agenda to increase the population size or something!

@Mike: If you are living in Ghana than clearly you are enjoying the romance!

@N F-A: 20 seconds? That does not even make sense! Way too short.. Was that some sort of test?

Oh EK! Don't blame me if that's where your mind is at!

Funny twist you've put in there. Romance, huh?

lol NY: Most definitely romance! Still trying to rationalize the lack of water situation. Climate change?

Tell me about it!! The ECG doesn't care about our gadgets at all.
The power goes off and comes back on at a rate of 3x in five minutes.. Aba!! Bone ben na ya ye?
As the romantic candlelight dinners, hmmm.. My only prayer would be that the fires of passion suggested by E.K.Bensah don't lead to the fires that need to be calmed by the National Fire Service.
After all, there always seems to be a problem with water hydrants. Anaaa?

*LOL* Enyonam! I've seen any water hydrants in Ghana. In fact, I'm having a problem seeing water lately at all!
